OTHER SERVICES AND PRODUCTS

MODEMS

To get Chesnee High-Speed Internet service, you’ll need a high-speed modem. Currently, customers must purchase the modem through Chesnee for $39.95. If you sign a 24-month contract for one of our High-Speed plans, we’ll give you a FREE modem (a $39.95 value).

INSTALLATION RATES: $25.00 

Chesnee Communications’ installation is to the demarcation point at your location. All High-Speed accounts include termination to ONE computer only and an Ethernet cable. Installation does not include inside wiring. An Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) is required for High-Speed service, and the customer is responsible for installing and configuring the NIC-Chesnee will not install the NIC in the customer’s computer. Peachem DSL customers also will receive up to three filters.

NOTE: Chesnee Communications is not responsible for service issues related to a customer’s computer, network, or software.

OPTIONAL DSL/INSIDE WIRE MAINTENANCE PLAN: $5.95

Chesnee Communications offers a High-Speed/Inside Wire Maintenance Plan for $5.95 per month (business and residential), that covers labor costs for a technician to visit a customer’s location in response to a request to identify trouble, including the High-Speed connection and inside wiring. If the problem is found to be the customer-owned equipment, no labor charges will be incurred to isolate the problem. Inside wiring that was properly installed (per NEC) will be replaced at no charge. Chesnee Internet Service Acceptable Use Policy.

Chesnee Communications is pleased to provide its high-speed Internet customers with spam and virus filtering using GreyMail. Before messages are placed in your inbox, each one is scanned by the GreyMail service for both viruses and junk mail. If either is detected in the message, it is immediately moved to the GreyMail Message Center and a notification is sent to your inbox.

You can then click on a link that loads the Message Center in your browser, giving you the opportunity to safely review the infected message. All quarantined spam and viruses are automatically deleted if they are older than 14 days, so you never really need to delete what is quarantined if you don’t want to. You may delete, forward, and read messages as well as set many other customizable features.

To access GreyMail’s many customizable features click on “Options” in the upper right hand corner of GreyMail. Here you can set overall “Spam Sensitivity” levels, individual filter settings, setup a white list and blacklist, as well as many other options.

FUNCTIONS

DELETING A MESSAGE:

To delete a message or a collection of messages, select the checkbox to the left of each message then hit the “Delete Selected” button at the top of the screen.

VIEWING A MESSAGE:

To view a message, click on the “Subject” of that message. If the message has no subject, you may click on the envelope to the right of the date field to pull up the message. The email will be opened in a new window. If the message contains attachments or online images, you will not be able to display these for security reasons. If the message is actually not spam, you can forward it to your inbox and be able to read any attachments or images contained. Headers are not included in the message display. In order to view headers, click on the header icon next to the envelope.

FORWARDING A MESSAGE TO YOUR INBOX:

To forward a message to your inbox, simply check the checkbox to the left of it. Then hit the “Forward Selected” button at the top of the screen.

ALLOWING MAIL FROM SENDERS:

To allow messages sent by a specific sender to always bypass GreyMail, you can add these senders to a white list. To add senders, select the message by checking the box to the left of the message, then hit the "Allow Sender" button at the top of the page. This will add the sender’s email address to the white list. To manually add senders to your white list, click “Options” in the upper right hand corner of GreyMail, scroll down to the white list section and enter an email address, then click the “Save” button. You can use wildcards to allow everything from "my-example-domain.com", simply add *@my-example-domain.com in your white list.

BLACKLIST:

Your blacklist allows you to block messages from certain senders, or certain domains, from ever reaching your inbox. To add specific senders or domains to the blacklist click “Options” in the upper right hand corner of GreyMail. Scroll down to the blacklist section and enter an email address or domain into an available box, then click the “Save” button. You can use wildcards to block everything from "my-example-domain.com", simply add *@my-example-domain.com in your blacklist.

STATISTICS:

By clicking on the “View Stats” button in the upper right hand corner of GreyMail, you can see how many emails have been filtered over the last several months.

To get the free Trend Micro Internet Security Suite, you must log into My Account at http://myaccount.chesnet.net/.

Note: Before installing the Trend Micro Internet Security Suite, you will need to uninstall any other Internet security software program (Norton, McAfee, etc.) you have used previously, including Chesnee’s Internet Safety Kit. You will need to install the Trend Micro Internet Security software on each computer you intend to protect. Up to three (3) computers will be covered per Chesnee email account.

All Chesnee high-speed Internet customers are provided with up to five email addresses, online access to email Webmail, a free spam and virus filter for email (GreyMail) and 10 Megs of free online remote file storage (N-Drive).

Chesnee's My Account online system makes it is very easy to:

  • access yourWebmail;
  • change yourpassword;
  • access and changethe settings on your GreyMail;
  • registeradditional email addresses;
  • forward yourChesnee email to another address;
  • set up a vacationmessage when you won't be accessing your email for a period of time; and
  • save yourimportant computer files remotely using N-Drive to keep them safe andsecure.
